Summer's Here Again

It's summer time again.  Take some time to protect yourself and your children from too much sunlight and subsequent sunburns.  Visit my Home page to review the color atlas on skin lesions, especially skin cancer.  You may end up paying dearly for the excessive UV light exposure you incur now.  Cover up as much as possible, avoid too much mid-day sun exposure, and use liberal amounts of good quality sunblock.  Doc.

Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month

This is a very important topic for all of you out there, maybe even your children.  If you have not heard of osteoporosis, you may be living on a different planet.  If you've been to my office and are over the age of 40, you should have heard about it from me.  I would like for you to visit the National Osteoporosis Foundation website linked below for some very interesting information.  Here's just one interesting excerpt from that website to ponder:  "Osteoporosis matters because according to NOF data, in the U.S. today, there are 44 million American women and men age 50 and older with osteoporosis or low bone density."

Read about the five steps to take to keep your bones healthy on NOF's homepage.

If you or a friend have not had a bone density, please consider getting one done at our office.  Visit The Bone Density Site http://www.mcbridemd.com/bonedensitysite.htmlon my website for more details.  It's a great state-of-the-art machine, and the test takes 15-20 minutes to perform.  I will interpret the results for you in less than 24 hours.  It's usually covered by insurance, and we do the paper work.  It's a lot easier than going to a facility or hospital to do it.  I try to start screening as early as 45.  I have a great deal of experience in diagnosing and treating osteopenia and osteoporosis.  You don't have to take your clothes off.  Stacy, our tech, is very knowledgeable about osteoporosis.  Make an appointment with Bobbie @ 713-797-9171 if you want it done.  Doc
